The Oaks Bed and Breakfast Categories: Lodging
Our innkeeper gail couldnt have been kinder, she made us feel at home the moment we walked in. The food was fabulous and our room was really nice. My only knock on the place was the shower, I cd never get the temperature right, it was either too cold or too hot and the shower was in a tub with a shower curtain surrounding it, it made me feel a little claustraphobic
With a short vacation ahead, my friend and I looked for a relaxing destination within driving distance of Asheville, NC. We found it at the fantastic Oaks Bed and Breakfast. Clean, quiet and charming, our stay here was an absolute delight. We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh berries, juicy bacon and tasty French toast. If you're on the lookout for a great place to stay, I highly recommend it.
Great breakfast and very clean. Gail is a super awesome lady. Will stay again
Beautiful and quaint victorian-style house from the late 1800s. The majority of rooms and baths are decorated era-appropriate furniture, art, and fixtures. Some downstairs are recent additions though, in case you would prefer that. I believe there are also accommodations in the guest house. The rooms are quiet, we stayed in the now white "red room", which is all the way in the back of the house. It may have the smallest bathroom, but it is very quiet, looks over the woods behind the house, and has a window a/c unit that kept the room cool and dehumidified. Then there was the shining star that made our stay even more enjoyable, and that was the hostess Gail. She makes a great breakfast, and went the extra mile with it by accommodating our various good restrictions. Gluten, dairy, and some fruits for one of us, and no pork products for the other. Everything was delicious. Gail even listened to all my incessant talking and questions about the house and about running a B&B. She made the stay feel like being with family, but without any of the obligations of staying with family. This was our first stay at a B&B, and we will be staying here again whenever we are in the area. There is a beautiful waterfall a short drive and short walk nearby - Piersons Falls, we highly recommend it. The town is cute, and has some stores and restaurants worth visiting. They also have an outfitter with whitewater rafting and the longest zip line in the state(s ?). We were planning on doing that, but ran into friends and went to Lake Lure nearby. Saluda is a great location to stay with many activities within 30-50 minutes distance, including the Biltmore estate. We will be returning to revisit some, and continue exploring.
My wife and I spent a wonderful weekend at The Oaks for our anniversary. Dale and Donna were excellent and attentive hosts who made us feel well cared for. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area and were able to get some great recommendations for fun activities and great dining from our aforementioned hosts. The Oaks is a special place and we will definitely be making a return visit!
