Great and friendly service from all staff members from check-in to check-out. this is an older property. However, they appear to be actively updating the rooms. Our room was a recently updated one, with a micro fridge and microwave. The room was clean and spacious. I felt that it was "very good," due to the basic amenities provided for a budget hotel. Otherwise, it was a good experience. Breakfast was OK but could use improvement

Room was in poor condition. But gentleman at front desk was kind and empathetic. He tried to help in everyway he could. It's located near a restaurant/bar, a gas station. It's within a mile from downtown San Marcos. And within half a mile of both the highway and the bus station, which runs both local and national routes.
Everyone that we came in contact with was very helpful and accommodating. Safety was important to me because I am a senior and we felt safe. A+ to all. Room was recently renovated, We will be coming back.
Dirty room, no hot water. Not high quality. There are much better hotels for the same price.
The room was filthy - Hairs (that were not mine) on the pillows and towels. "Stains" on the bed and carpet. Room smelled awful. Lights did not work. Staff was not helpful. I got stuck on the backside of the building that backed up to a parking lot outside a very busy establishment and there was a lot of foot traffic with several inebriated people. The door didn't seal properly and was visibly dirty. I didn't get the size of bed i had originally reserved and was told i was not able to move to a different room. If i had a choice I would have gotten my money and ran like hell. Unfortunately, I needed a room for the night and all other nearby hotels were booked. If you are thinking about staying at the EconoLodge in San Marcos, TX - DON'T. Take your chances and stay in your car like i will be doing if left with them again as my only option.
