YMCA Farmers Market
|MARKET VISION AND PURPOSE]|
The YMCA Farmers Market increases access to locally-grown, homemade, and healthy food in Grand Rapids’ Westside neighborhoods, while also creating economic opportunity for beginning, smallscale, and minority farmers and food producers. The Market aims to bridge the gap between West Michigan’s urban and rural communities, and to create a supportive and vibrant community space.
Nice facility and people.. The users complaining about gays in the locker room or "ghetto trash" are misguided. The basketball courts tend to be competitive but not disrespectful. I've never been approached inappropriately by a male or a female here.
One of the best ymca’s around. I love the fact that it has a good sized indoor track as I hate running on treadmills. Even when busy it is easy to get time on a machine due to the amount they carry. Add in a couple different types of pools and this place is a gem.
Great facility -- the indoor pool is wonderful, especially for kids as there is a splash pad and huge slide. Warm and comfortable water temps. The swim lessons they offer for kids are very well done.
there to strict with th epool why do you need to take a swim test if you know you can swim
I love this place. Made the switch from a 24-hour gym and boy, was it worth it! I enjoy the variety of classes and workout opportunities. My personal favorite: the spin classes! Instructors there really work at fostering a sense of community, which is really what the YMCA is about anyway. I take visiting family and friends there when they come to GR, and they are impressed with the facility's beauty and thoroughness of machines. For the naysayers: Sure, it's crowded during peak hours, but seeing as it's downtown and during a busy time, you can't really fault them on that. As far as parking goes, there is *free* parking in the dash lot right next door that isn't as tight as the Y lot. I park there to avoid the hassle. All in all, for this lady gym rat, the DDH Y is perfect!
